Church Planting

Assessment for Church Planters

Using tools like the Ridley Behavioral Assessment for Church Planters, the Kolbe A Index, and the APEST assessment (Apostle, Prophet, Evangelist, Shepherd, and Teacher), we evaluate potential church planter candidates for their competencies in church planting. A comprehensive written report is provided to the church, network, or denomination, highlighting the candidate’s strengths and areas needing development for successful church planting.

Coached-Mentoring of Church Planters

A key factor in the effective launch of a church plant and the ongoing health and sustainability of the planter is the involvement of a qualified coach. At Coram Deo, we employ a distinctive “coached-mentoring” approach. A coach helps the church planter by drawing out internal solutions for identified problems and tasks. Alternatively, a mentor provides the church planter with ideas and solutions recognized as best practices in church planting. This blend of coaching and mentoring is what makes Coram Deo's church planter coaching highly successful.

Equipping of Church Planters

A certified Multiply Course trainer is paired with a church planter, either individually or in a cohort setting, to cover all 13 widely recognized competencies for church planting. Competencies include defining and casting your vision, developing and deploying leaders, and raising funds and donor development. The assignments for the course involve the actual build-out of the church plant project, allowing the planter to develop their project as they engage with the course material. This course is available individually or in a cohort setting, based on the church planter’s preferences.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Three key assessments are used to evaluate potential church planters:

Ridley Behavioral Assessment for Church Planters: Assesses competencies critical for church planting success.

Kolbe A Index: Measures natural instincts and abilities.

APEST Assessment: Identifies strengths in the roles of Apostle, Prophet, Evangelist, Shepherd, and Teacher.

These assessments provide a comprehensive understanding of a candidate's strengths and areas for development, essential for successful church planting.

  • The written report offers valuable insights into the church planter candidate's potential for success. It highlights their strengths and identifies areas where further development is needed. This information helps the church, network, or denomination make informed decisions about supporting and resourcing the church planter, ultimately increasing the likelihood of a successful church plant.

  • Coaching and mentoring are two distinct approaches to supporting church planters:

Coaching: Involves "pulling out" solutions from within the church planter, helping them discover their own answers to problems and tasks.

Mentoring: Involves "pouring into" the church planter, offering ideas and solutions based on best practices and the mentor's experience.

Coram Deo's "coached-mentoring" approach combines these two methods, providing comprehensive support tailored to the church planter's unique needs.
